A Snapshot of Our History

The story of Stonehill Communities began in 1878 when our founders, the Sisters of St. Francis, arrived in Dubuque, lowa. In 1978, they opened Stonehill Health Center, marking the beginning of nearly 50 years of continued growth. Since then, we’ve expanded and enhanced our services to better serve the health and wellness needs of Dubuque and the Tri-State area, both on our campus and in the homes of older adults.
